Kris Kristofferson: The Essential Kris Kristofferson
It's hardly a new collection, but I have been obsessed with it lately. Kris is simply one of our best poets and this collection is a fine example of why. Many songs bring a tear to my eye, many make me laugh; many just make me wish I wrote them.
Bob Mould: Life and Times
This album speaks perfectly to those of my generation who are attempting to straddle the brazen punk attitudes of our youth and the graying, mature philosophers we find ourselves becoming.
Lucinda Williams: Little Honey
The gal is a friggin' genius and I want to have her babies...or...er...something like that...
Especially when compared to her last album, the stark West which was sometimes startling in its grief (and two songs on which make me cry every time I hear them, even after dozens of listens), this CD is toe-tapping good fun. Sounds like somebody's in love..."Jailhouse Tears" is an hilarious standout and not just because on it she duets with Elvis Costello. And is "Honey Bee" a deliciously filthy song or is it just me?
Kings of Leon: Only by the Night
The Kings rock. "Sex on Fire" is a classic.
Caleb Followill's vocals make me tingly in special places.
The Duke Spirit: Neptune
Feel good, happy music I love to listen to in the car. I dig Liela Moss's vocals.
