Through Dr. Niece and her colleagues at UCLA, I found an interesting web site, www.mytaxcut.us. Within a few seconds I was able to find out how each candidate's tax plan will affect my own personal wallet. You just enter your filing status, number of dependents and income. You will not be asked for your social security number or any sensitive personal information.
At www.mytaxcut.us you can:
€ Find out how much your taxes would be raised/cut
€ Find out how many people benefit from each plan
€ Find out how much people are taxed at each income level
€ Create your own tax plan
€ Send your plan to Mytaxcut.us & they will post the results
Mytaxcut.us is nonpartisan. All information comes from the candidate's plans, the IRS and the Tax Policy Center (a nonpartisan group). There are no negative political ads. Your social security number or any sensitive personal information will not be solicited.
I think they've done a good job of explaining a complicated situation.
Go to www.mytaxcut.us to use this simple tool to find out how the tax plans would actually affect you.
Thanks -- I checked it out and Barack will save me $500. (Not exactly a surprise though...)
