So I actually watched the MTV Movie Awards last night…well, in truth, they were just on my television as background noise while I was writing. I did turn up the volume, though, when something came on which appeared to be interesting.
Eyah, so my volume stayed low a lot. I might not be the best person to give an actual critique of the show, as a result. I do, however (and of course) have a few thoughts.
Who was that host and why was he hired to do this show? Granted, I don’t usually watch award shows in general and have not watched one on MTV in like a decade, so maybe I’m even more out of things than I thought (I am tragically unhip, as we all know). But that dude was A) not funny and B) extremely obnoxious and annoying. And did I mention he was not funny?
Also, why was Robert Pattinson’s shirt buttoned incorrectly? As in, his buttons were not aligned with his holes…so to speak…I recently saw pictures of him leaving a hotel in Italy with his shirt like that, but I assumed he had just, you know, dressed in a hurry. Now he is appearing on awards shows like this? And what was with the visible, white undershirt? Is this some form of “in a rush after sex” look he is adopting to go along with his perpetual bed hair? Or *shudder to think* is this going to be yet another in a series of extremely unattractive and downright stupid trends in male fashion?
*sigh* Why do the boys so seemingly wish to make themselves as unattractive as possible anymore – what with the pants falling off and the hair in their face and now, apparently, the shirts buttoned in a most sloppy manner?
Well, at least pants which actually fit appear to be making a comeback. Praise Jehovah.
Kristen Stewart. Is she:

Kristen Stewart. Is she:
- Always high?
- Just too cool for school?
- A complete imbecile?
I have yet to figure that one out. Right now, I am leaning toward #3, because she didn’t necessarily look high last night...and if she thinks she is too cool for school (my second choice), she is sorely mistaken.
It is disappointing. I have been a semi-fan of Kristen’s. I liked her in Panic Room; I liked her in In the Land of Women (a movie I was pleasantly surprised by, by the way. I mean, it’s not great, but I expected it to be really bad and it wasn’t). As you may recall, I liked her in Twilight. My redheaded sister and I had a big debate about her in that role, actually, and I was her cheerleader.
But…um…I find her to be disappointing when playing herself. Plus, I am now realizing that she’s pretty much played the same part in each movie I’ve seen her in and that part is remarkably similar to her own dorky self.
Not that there’s anything wrong with being a dork, of course. I am pretty much Queen of the Dorks and I find most of my ilk to be rather charming. But when combined with a “too cool for school” attitude and probably copious amounts of the Evil Weed, it is…off-putting.
It was totally funny when she fumbled her trophy and dropped it, though. In her defense, those things look heavy!
OK, but the clip from New Moon? Yay! I loved the part where Jacob turned in to a werewolf! I am very excited…oh and also the fake clip which preceded the real one by a few minutes was actually the only funny thing the host appeared to be involved in the entire evening.
And I will now break down and admit that Robert Pattinson is a great looking guy, even with the Bob’s Big Boy hair-do and the sloppy shirt. Sure, I prefer my men to have...well, shoulders; but I was wrong, before (and yes, I am actually admitting it!) - he doesn’t have smoosh-face…at least not without the vampire make-up. Plus, he's barely past puberty. He is English, so I'm not holding out tremendous hope, but he may develop shoulders, at some point.
I also thought the presentation of the special award given to Ben Stiller was quite funny. I love me some Keifer Sutherland and he was amusing.
Loved Kings of Leon…but then, I love the Kings of Leon and I love the song “Use Somebody”, which they played, so why wouldn’t I?
The whole Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno landing his ass on Eminem’s face? I have to admit that I wasn’t paying attention. I knew some kind of hoopla was going on and that somebody stormed out but I didn’t even realize who the key players were. So I have no opinion as to whether or not the whole angry-tirade thing was fake…but considering who all was involved in these shenanigans, my money is on fake.
The rest of my weekend had its ups and downs, I ain’t gonna lie. Friday night at the Cinema was quite a lot of fun. We danced, we drank, we laughed, we sang; but both Dr. Niece and I managed to stay sober and I was home by 3am! Mike Stinson and band were in fine form that night and although we chatted with lots of cool characters, nobody was annoying or rubbed their hard-ons up my ass, so it was all good, clean fun.
I saw my parents and my redheaded sister on Saturday, which was nice. I also ate some great Mexican food that day, which was even nicer. However, there seems to be some trouble in paradise on the home front (with the Old Man)…I guess we’ll see how that turns out.
I got lots of writing done yesterday, though, and that makes me very happy. I am working on a novel, of all things. I have not even attempted to write in this form in more than a decade and yet I am thus far quite pleased with my progress and my results. I have a goal, you see. I am going to try and get something published before the summer of 2010. I don’t know yet if it will be this particular novel, but it will be something. I have never, ever even attempted to get something published before. But, you know – I have decided that if I am still a Credit Manager ten years from now, I am not going to make it to retirement. I will go fucking postal and you will be reading about me in the news. I at least have to try to make a living doing something which means something to me and apparently I am never going to be a rock star.
Wish me luck.

Robert Pattinson - UGH! All of his "fashion" choices are so calculated. I am so sick of his scrubby & scummy look. He needs a long, hot shower.
